Karin Austin

Director, John E. Mack Institute

Karin Austin is an experiencer who participated in John Mack’s research into the alien encounter phenomenon during the late 1990s. She later evolved into a role as his personal assistant. After John’s passing, she helped the Mack family with the closing of his estate and was directly responsible for preparing John’s home-based archives for storage.

As the John E. Mack Institute’s director, she is leading a truly remarkable team of volunteers in digitizing the entire collection of John’s archival materials. In Karin’s own words, never has the concept of “it takes a village” been more meaningful and real than it is in the execution of this once-in-a-lifetime undertaking. She is honored to be a part of John’s “village” and to have been given the opportunity to elevate his life’s work into the public domain, thus making it available to future researchers seeking to understand John’s odyssean journey through the Contact phenomenon.
